Engagements

Four ways to bring us in. Used singly, layered, or in sequence.

Engagements run on a spectrum from the board table to hands-on programme delivery. Each can stand alone, whether that's a single advisory mandate, a fractional or interim leadership window, a defined transformation, or sequence into the others as the situation evolves. The starting point is the situation, not a fixed methodology.

01

Board & Executive Advisory and Strategy

Independent technology and AI advisory to boards, chairs and executive teams. Setting strategic direction, and prepared to reshape it when the analysis points that way.

When this fits

  • The board wants help translating complex technology and AI conversations into language that lets the table act.
  • A specific strategic decision is coming (an AI strategy refresh, a major technology bet, an M&A move, a regulatory engagement), and the directors want a senior, independent read.
  • The chair or executive team want a standing advisor between meetings, not just at them.
  • An executive team wants a senior thinking partner for the technology and AI questions that are not yet board-table conversations, but soon will be.

How we run it

Standing advisor relationship, defined-window engagement, or single-decision support. Plain language. Independent of management, vendors and product agendas. Often paired with the quarterly Board Brief for a written cadence.

02

Fractional CIO / CTO

Strategic leadership and thought direction from inside the organisation, typically a few days a week. Setting the technology and AI direction the strategy depends on, guiding the team that delivers it, and carrying the conversation with the executive and the board.

When this fits

  • The function is in place and capable, but it needs senior strategic shape and outside perspective at the top.
  • The organisation needs a CIO or CTO at the executive table, but a full-time role is not yet justified, or the right permanent hire is some months away.
  • The technology and AI direction is the strategic question of the year, and it needs to be held by someone who has done it before.

How we run it

A defined cadence of two to three days a week, a clear remit, and a written sign-off on the strategic calls being made. Deliberate handover to the permanent leader when the situation, or the right hire, arrives.

03

Interim CIO / CTO

Full leadership of the technology function with full executive accountability. Clear direction, leadership of the team, and capability uplift built into the engagement. The function is left more capable than it was found.

When this fits

  • The CIO or CTO seat is open and the right permanent hire will take six to twelve months to find.
  • A transformation, restructure or post-acquisition integration needs senior technology leadership on day one.
  • The function needs to be reset (leadership cadence, decision rights, AI fluency, the path from pilot to production) and that reset is the engagement.
  • The board needs an experienced operator inside the executive, not just at the table.

How we run it

Three to twelve months, typically four to five days a week, with full executive accountability. Capability uplift across leadership cadence, decision rights and AI fluency runs alongside the day-to-day, so the function strengthens through the engagement. Deliberate handover to the permanent leader.

04

Transformation Program Direction

Direct leadership of the transformation program itself: AI-driven operating-model shifts, restructures, post-acquisition integration, regulatory programs. Engaged as the program owner, with the authority and accountability the change requires.

When this fits

  • The strategy is set, and the question is whether the program that delivers it has the leadership to land it.
  • The operating model has to absorb agent-run workflow, and the change has to be steered, not just designed.
  • The risk of getting it wrong is high enough to demand a senior, independent program lead reporting to the executive or board.
  • An existing program has stalled, and the recovery needs experienced hands and an outside-in view.

How we run it

Program ownership against a defined target state, reporting line and steering committee. Diagnosis first, design second, change sequence third. Out at the agreed exit point, not before and not after.

Start with a conversation.

Thirty minutes. What the situation actually is, where the friction is, and which of the four engagement modes (or which combination of them) the situation actually calls for.
